A Brief Introduction

A practicing psychologist,who is also an accomplished musician and a dancer,successfully employs music as one of the tools for psychotherapy,enjoys communicating with people and work with institutions that assist people to live happily.Associated with leading hospitals,schools & rehabilitation centers as consultant psychotherapist and runs her own clinic in Kolkata. Conducted several seminars on anger management,stress management and anti-smoking seminars.


Presently working with inmates of the Alipore Correctional Home Facility, Presidency Correctional Home & Women Correctional Home Kolkata,on Stress Management and provide inmates some relief from anxiety by using professional counseling and music therapy techniques.

      She has been the Consultant Psychologist at KD Cure since 2004 and utilizes a variety of therapeutic methods including: Psycho dynamic,Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Play Therapy and Music Therapy.

      Gitika has been attending outdoor patients as a Consultant since 2003 twice a week at Ruby hospital.The hospital has become one of the leading cancer treatment centers today and Gitikahas been working with patients and their families at the hospital. She has also been conducting training programmes on Stress Management and Anger Management for the staff of the hospital.

Working with Resurrection (A leading non-government group)

Apart from doing consultancy at various institutions, Gitika is also associated with Resurrection that is a non - government group executing human resource development programs.


With the permission of Inspector General of Correction Home Service of West Bengal, she has been working on stress management of the inmates of Presidency Central &Women; Correctional Home for the last 5 years. Stress Management has different connotation when the person is behind iron bars, often suffocating under the burden of guilt and repentance and many a times angry with the system as many of them may believe that they are innocent or framed on their crimes and do not deserve their sentence. While most inmates do not believe that anyone can help them in their situation, Gitika has been working with patiently to educate them about the impact of their mental stress on their wellbeing and also direct their energy towards some constructive thinking. She has been very successful in involving groups of inmates in counselling sessions using music therapy.
