Presently working with inmates of the Alipore Correctional Home Facility, Presidency Correctional Home & Women Correctional Home Kolkata,on Stress Management and provide inmates some relief from anxiety by using professional counseling and music therapy techniques.

With the permission of Inspector General of Correction Home Service of West Bengal, she has been working on stress management of the inmates of Presidency Central &Women; Correctional Home for the last 5 years. Stress Management has different connotation when the person is behind iron bars, often suffocating under the burden of guilt and repentance and many a times angry with the system as many of them may believe that they are innocent or framed on their crimes and do not deserve their sentence. While most inmates do not believe that anyone can help them in their situation, Gitika has been working with patiently to educate them about the impact of their mental stress on their wellbeing and also direct their energy towards some constructive thinking. She has been very successful in involving groups of inmates in counselling sessions using music therapy.
